To win without risk is to triumph without glory

Within the Three Realms the rule of the Emperors serves not only as law, but as example to all those who live by conquest. With the exceptions of the honourless barbarians and the reviled Vampires, those of us who make their lives at war, live by a code of honour. Created by the Emperors, and supported by the Church, this code is what separates the lives we live from the lives of the Barbarians which surround the land.

Honour is one of the principle requirements to advance to your next highest level. You can have all the land and peasants you need, but without honour of the highest caliber, the Emperors will not respect your advancement.

Honour is gained principally through defeating opponents of equal or higher level on the field of battle. However, the honourable life is not completely the life of war. You may also use the church pray command to visit your sanctuary. This has a chance of increasing your honour.

Honour is lost by attacking opponents lower level than yourself, or from being defeated on the field of battle, in general. Also, too many trips to the local tavern will tarnish your honour.

If your honour ever falls so low that you are a disgrace to yourself and to the Emperors, you will be demoted one level, and stripped of the appropriate amount of land, peasants, and troops.

You may check the current state of your honour, anytime and for free, simply by visiting the church

Protection of the Emperors

Even the barbarians and the Vampire himself will never break this, the most essential tenet of honour within the Three Kingdoms of Conquest. No player shall ever be attacked until she has initiated a battle. This edict is called "the Protection of the Emperors" and it is inviolable. It holds when you first newplayer, but also when you sail and establish an outpost on another continent. After establishing an outpost you will regain the Protection of the Emperors for all your continents until you once again attack.

The Life of honour: Jousting and Bloodgaurd

For the honourable there are two main benefits, above and beyond being able to promote to the next highest level. Fighters of Baron level or higher, or Clerics of Adept level or higher, may joust to engage a n opponent in an honourable duel. To initiate a jousting tournament costs 4 move and 5000 copper per your level, and the call to a joust may only be made when the weather permits. Once the call to a joust has been made, one random player of Baron or Adept or higher level on the same continent will be chosen at random to tourney against you. It is said that God is on the side of the righteous in a joust, and indeed, the winner of the joust will almost cer tainly be he with the higher honour. The winner gains 5% of the losers land.

Any character who serves the Emporers (that is to say, any except the honourless barbarians and the evil vampires), may, if their honour is fair enough, assay to quest bloodguard. Those who have served the Emperors well may petition to them and be granted 20 bloodguard per your level. This will cost you only 2 move and 1500 copper, as an offering to the Emperors, per your level.

The Life of Dishonour: Tavern and Gamble

For those who wish to, on occasion, kick their feet up and wallow in sin, there is the tavern. Full of lusty bartenders and buxom barmaids, the tavern is a good place to go to hear local gossip, possibly including stats of other players, local mercenaries' numbers and prices and the letters to the fabled Secret City. Going to the tavern costs one movement point.

Players may also roll away their fortune at the gambling tables found in any city in the land. The game is simple: if the same number comes up on two standard (six-sided) dice, you take home six times your wag er! Otherwise you lose it. To roll also takes one movement point.
